A pedestrian and a driver were involved in a verbal argument in the 300 block of Linden Street. The pedestrian became upset and refused to move from the road, blocking traffic. According to a report, the driver “inched his car up and bumped” the pedestrian several times in the calf with his vehicle in an attempt to make the pedestrian move.
May 24
Someone stole a stove and a refrigerator from a house in the 1200 block of Western Avenue. The victim said his tenant stole the appliances without his permission and then fled the scene.
May 25
A 17-year-old boy told officers five people “jumped him” in the 1000 block of South Front Street. The victim said the suspects hit and kicked him numerous times in the face and head. Paramedics transported the victim to Fort Hamilton Hospital.
Someone stole an impounded vehicle from Marcell’s Towing, 1631 Bender Ave. According to a report, as soon as the employee walked off the lot to get a key, the suspect got in the car and drove off.
A woman told officers someone attacked her as she attempted to play a song on a jukebox at Elks Pure Gold Lodge Bar, 526 S. Front St. According to a report, the suspect said, “You can’t play that music. I already have my money in there.” The victim said the suspect then grabbed her wrists and punched her in the chest.

May 20
While on patrol, officers observed smoke from a house in the 2100 block of Hill Avenue. Whitney McCarty told officers she was attempting to light a cigarette on the kitchen stove and the stove caught fire. She told officers everything was OK, but when they went inside, officers observed a crack pipe on a counter across from the stove. Officers arrested McCarty for possession of drug paraphernalia.
May 25
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Lind Street for a report of a suspicious person. Officers found a 17-year-old girl asleep on a front porch. Officers said she was intoxicated and had bloodshot glassy eyes and slurred speech. The 17-year-old had a bloody and swollen lip, she was taken to Atrium Medical Center for treatment and later taken to the Butler County Juvenile Detention Center.
A woman told officers her daughter, who is a “prostitute and heroin user,” stayed at her house on Glenmore Drive and stole medication from her pill bottle.
May 28
A burglary was reported in the 1600 block of Lafayette Avenue. The victim said someone forced her garage door open and stole several items including a furnace, an air conditioning unit, a 2.5-gallon air compressor and tools.
A husband and wife told officers two men dressed in dark clothing and wearing dark ski masks walked in their front door and asked, “Where’s the money?” The victims said the suspects were armed with a rifle and a handgun. They pointed the weapons at both victims and demanded money, according to a report. The victims told the suspects they just paid their bills. The suspects left the apartment, which was located in the 600 block of Lafayette Avenue. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspects.
Officers responded to the 100 block of North Sutphin Street for a report of a burglary. The victim said the suspect stole an Xbox, a Sony Playstation 2, video game controllers and $100. Officers said the suspect entered through a back door by prying it open.
