Three people are facing charges after police said they stole nearly $500 worth of items from the Walmart on College Corner Pike.
Oxford and Oxford Twp. police officers responded to a June 22 call that people had run from the Oxford Walmart with a cart full of merchandise and then fled, according to a police report.
Three people — later identified as — Stephen Michael Moster, 24; Ryan T. Simms, 31; and Macy Lanette Mitchell, 23, were stopped on Todd Road by police.
After being placed in separate police cruisers, Mitchell gave officers permission to search the vehicle, according to the police report.
All three admitted the items in the vehicle’s trunk, except for an air conditioning unit, were stolen, according to the report.
Total value of the stolen items was placed at $490.25.
Moster said they were driving to Hueston Woods to go camping and the toys were for Simms’ daughter, whose birthday was the next day.
Mitchell was seen in store surveillance video in the vehicle while the two men were in the store, according to the police report.
Moster and Simms were charged with theft. Mitchell was charged with complicity.
