Trenton man sentenced to prison for rape of child

Two girls under the age of 6 took the stand to testify during the trial of the man accused of raping them.

On Wednesday, that man, Ryan J. Warman, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the rape of a child.

“They were incredibly brave,” Assistant Butler County Prosecutor Kelly Heile said of the children’s testimony. “It was really very impressive to watch.”

Warman, 28, was convicted last week of the rape of a 6-year-old girl following a jury trial in Judge Craig Hedric’s courtroom, according to Heile. The jury found him not guilty of a second rape charge involving a 5-year-old girl.

The assault occurred between June 15 and July 6 in car while it was located between Trenton and Middletown, Heile said. The children were known to Warman. The crime was reported to Trenton police, who conducted the investigation.

Warman, who listed Trenton and other Butler County addresses as his recent residences, was indicted Oct. 28 by a grand jury.

Conviction of rape of a child under the age of 13 carries a possible sentence of 10 years to life in prison. The sentence increases the younger the age of the victim.
