19 shots fired into Middletown home; no one hurt

Nineteen shots were found fired into a residence in the 1300 block of Barnitz Street and into a parked car this morning, according to a Middletown police report.

Police said one bullet had gone through a front plate glass window, nearing striking a female resident in the head.

Witnesses called police dispatch at 4 a.m. and reported that a black, smaller sports car was seen leaving the area after the shots were fired.

Police stopped a black Nissan 350Z near University Boulevard and Sorg Place.

The driver of the car, Michael Patterson, of Middletown, was charged with felony OVI, fourth offense within six years, and driving under suspension. He denied any knowledge of the shooting and police didn’t locate a gun in the vehicle, the report said.

The vehicle was impounded.

A passenger in the vehicle also was questioned by police, but he wasn’t charged.

The case remains under investigation, according to police.
