Mother charged after allegedly making up abduction story

A mother has been charged after allegedly making up a story about her child being in a vehicle that was carjacked Friday night from a Fairfield road.

At about 11 p.m., Martisha Ross reported to Fairfield police that her young child had been abducted with her vehicle after she pulled the car over on Ross Road to look at her cell phone, according to police. Ross said she exited the vehicle, leaving the keys in the ignition. That’s when someone jumped in the driver seat and took the vehicle with her child in the back seat, she said.

Police and detectives investigated the alleged abduction for about 90 minutes before the child was found safe at a relative’s residence in Cincinnati.

Ross was reunited with the child, but as the investigation progressed it was determined the incident did not occur as reported by Ross. The investigation showed Ross and her husband were involved in a domestic dispute and the husband left in the vehicle with the child.

Ross, 33, of Cincinnati, was charged with making false alarms, a first-degree misdemeanor.
