Man pleads guilty in Warren County child sex case

A 60-year-old Butler County man pleaded guilty Tuesday to multiple accounts of sexual misconduct with a minor and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, felonies of the third and fifth degree.

Warren County prosecutors said John Hopkins of West Chester met a 13-year-old juvenile in March via the App, Grindr, and the two communicated for several days. Hopkins then met the juvenile twice at a parking lot in Lebanon, and the sexual misconduct occurred during these meetings.

Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said in a release that the juvenile's parents found the texts between Hopkins and the juvenile, and notified the police. A detective began an investigation, acting as the juvenile. After a couple weeks of communicating, the detective arranged a meeting where he and Hopkins would go to a hotel, with Hopkins under the impression that he was going to meet the juvenile. Lebanon police met Hopkins at the hotel and arrested him. Detectives then found nude photos of the juvenile on Hopkins' phone.

Hopkins is to be sentenced at a later date.
