Man charged after Middletown police say he hit dogs

Middletown police charged a man with cruelty to animals after they saw him allegedly hitting two dogs near Goldman Park on Highland Street.

Two officers said they saw Justin Gregory Mills, 27, abusing a Pit Bull and a Boxer, and when questioned, he gave officers an incorrect name.

The Butler County Dog Warden took custody of the dogs, according to the police report.

While in jail, Mills told officers he took 20 Xanax after being arrested and needed to be transported to Atrium Medical Center. He later recanted that story and said he just wanted to get out of jail.

He was also charged with falsification.

Police also interviewed someone who claimed to be Mills’ sister, Kayla Mills, 23, of Camden. She allegedly lied to officers about the identify of her brother. She was charged with falsification.

Both remain in the Middletown City Jail.
