Gun-waving man on run from police

Police are still looking for a man who eluded capture Saturday afternoon after he was allegedly waving a gun in the parking lot of a gas station.

Franklin police officers responded at around 4 p.m. to a complaint that a man, identified as Joshua Lee Wilson, 6-foot white male weighing 200-pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes, was possibly waving a gun at the Speedway gas station, 1295 E. Second St.

When officers arrived, Wilson was at one of the fuel pumps in a maroon Chevrolet pickup truck. When police approached Wilson, he fled and a short pursuit followed through the Walmart parking lot, north on Commerce Center Drive and ending at the Dayton Daily News printing facility.

Wilson then left the paved area of the parking lot and attempted to drive through a tree line, according to officers who were in pursuit. He then crashed his pickup truck and then fled on foot. K-9 units were called in an attempted to track him, but were unsuccessful.

Franklin police said that Wilson has active warrants for a parole violation and escape. He will be charged in relation to the pursuit in Franklin.

As of Sunday afternoon, Wilson remains at large and the public and law enforcement has been cautioned that he is to be considered armed and dangerous, Police also indicated he has a history of drug abuse and violent tendencies.
