Counterfeit cash popping up in Oxford

Three Oxford businesses made reports to police over a six-day period of counterfeit money being passed at their stores, one of them reporting such an incident happening twice.

The first report was made Oct. 15 when the Oxford Kroger store, 300 S Locust St., reported phony money received the previous day.

Speedway, 260 S Locust St., made reports Oct. 16 and Oct. 20 about counterfeit $20 bills received at the store.

Then, an officer was dispatched to the Wendy’s restaurant, 5142 College Corner Pike, on Oct. 19 to meet with an employee who reported a counterfeit $20 bill found in cash receipts from the previous evening. There was no description of a suspect and no video available in that incident.
