Bond set for suspect accused of assault, robbery at Middletown market

Bond was set at $50,000 for a Middletown man who allegedly assaulted a victim and stole $60 and the victim’s cellphone, according to court records.

Brandon Gross, 34, of Middletown, appeared Friday for his arraignment and Middletown Municipal Court Judge James Sherron set the cash, surety or property bond. Gross remains in the City Jail and is scheduled for his preliminary hearing on Friday, according to court records.

Police were called Thursday morning to Sloan Market, 1825 Highland St. on a report of a robbery. Gross was located and apprehended by detectives Ryan Morgan and Brandon Highley while they were checking the area, police said.

Gross was located in the 2200 block of Hill Avenue and captured without incident, according to police. The victim’s money and cellphone were located in the possession of the suspect.
