Congressman joins small-business talk in Hamilton

Congressman Warren Davidson, R-Troy, will be the guest speaker at a roundtable discussion geared toward small-business leaders in Hamilton.

The monthly roundtables are a partnership between the Greater Hamilton Chamber and the Small Business Development Center, allowing participants to connect with other local business owners, get updates from local, state and federal levels, and to promote their business.

January marked the first month of the event and nearly 30 people attended, according to Laura Merrill of the chamber.

The roundtable is scheduled for 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the chamber office, 201 Dayton St., Hamilton and will feature Davidson, as well as Dan Bates, the chamber’s new president and CEO, plus Rachel Steinman and Chris Miller, owners of Pet Wants Hamilton.

Davidson is well-suited to headline the forum, Merrill said.

“We have connections at the local and state levels,” she said. “Congressman Davidson will bring his perspective from the national level. This is a great opportunity for small business owners to have face-to-face time with our congressman and share the concerns and challenges they face as a business owner.”

Businesses with 49 employees or less are invited to attend, but must be a chamber member or SBDC client to participate. Businesses may attend one roundtable before joining the chamber or becoming an SBDC client.
