Butler County’s regional Miami campuses both have Chinese connections

Miami University has a large contingent of international students, including those from China who are natives of the area where the coronavirus was first found.

There are about 12 students from that region of China who attend classes at Miami University Regional campuses in Middletown and Hamilton, according to a school official. It’s unclear how many Chinese students from that area attend classes at the Oxford campus.

Classes resumed Monday on the Miami campuses following the winter break.

A Miami official said it was unclear about how many of the Chinese students returned home or remained in the United States during the winter break.

In 2013, the organization entered a partnership with Miami University to exclusively recruit students from China to come live and study in the United States at Miami University Middletown.
