New 'upscale' consignment shop opens in Butler County

The ReFinery Upscale Consignment recently opened at 4887 Smith Road in West Chester Twp. offering women’s clothing, accessories, such as handbags, shoes and jewelry, and home decor. It specializes in hand-painted furniture and wedding apparel.

Jennifer Dawson, the store’s owner, said she always wanted to open a business like it because “it makes sense in so many ways.”

“Our motto is ‘Live Green, Shop Green & Save Green,’” she told this news outlet. “To live green means to occupy and live on this earth in a way that uses the least amount of resources possible. By purchasing gently used clothing and accessories, you are recycling another already manufactured item, thus reducing earthly resources to produce more.

Dawson said to “shop green” means to purchase material items that use the least amount of resources possible.

“Consignment can definitely help with that,” she said. “The biggest plus to shopping consignment is, of course, saving money, and lots of it. Many women come to our shop impeccably dressed with a fabulous wardrobe — all from consignment purchases. A lot of our merchandise still has tags on it.”
