Busy Liberty Twp. road to close this weekend as $7M project continues

A road widening project is finally underway on Ohio 747 in Liberty Twp. Ohio 747 will close between Princeton Road and Millikin Road over the weekend for multiple culvert replacements, storm sewer crossings, and water main installations.

The closure will begin Saturday morning, and the road is tentatively scheduled to reopen by Monday evening.

This work is in conjunction with the $7 million Ohio 747 improvement project which got under way last month. The road will be widened from two to five lanes with the addition of right turn lanes, curb and gutter, storm sewers, and shared-use paths and sidewalks. Through traffic is being maintained for most of the project’s duration. Work is slated for completion by mid-September.

The detour will be: Northbound Ohio 747 traffic will detour west on Ohio 129, north on Bypass 4, and northeast on Ohio 4 to Ohio 747. Southbound traffic will reverse this route.

The county engineer’s office is also reporting a previously announced road closure in Madison Twp. for the Myers Road bridge replacement originally scheduled for Monday has been postponed until further notice. Work crews will be present clearing the site of brush; however, the bridge will close at a later date.
