Breast cancer awareness in Hamilton: Pink ice cream, pink football

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To show support for those battling the disease and to help raise awareness of the need for breast cancer screenings, Fort Hamilton Hospital is hosting several community events.

Cones Against Cancer

Fort Hamilton Hospital will host Cones Against Cancer from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 14 at Courthouse Square, 101 High St.

Flub's Ice Cream will provide pink ice cream cones, Fort Hamilton Hospital will hand out gift bags while supplies last, and a person can enter for a chance to win prizes.

Staff and physicians from Fort Hamilton Hospital will also be on hand to provide breast health information and answer questions. Women also can schedule a mammogram at the event.

High school football

Fort Hamilton Sports Medicine and Hamilton and Badin high schools are partnering to hold “Pink Games” this month.

Pink Games will be:

  • Oct. 21 (Hamilton vs. Middletown football) at Hamilton High School. Game starts at 7 p.m.
  • Oct. 28 (Badin vs. Archbishop McNicholas football) at Hamilton High School. Game starts at 7 p.m.

Athletic trainers will use pink towels and pink athletic tape during these games. Pink footballs will also be thrown into the stands.
