Suspect arrested in Hamilton shooting  case

Police have identified the man arrested for an overnight shooting in Hamilton as 20-year-old Broderick Malik Jones Roberts. He is charged with felonious assault, according to a Hamilton police news release.

The investigation revealed that he was the lone shooter, police said.

No additional information about the male victim was released today by police.

This news outlet was at the scene of the shooting earlier today but neighbors declined to comment or provide information regarding the incident.

UPDATE: 3:08 p.m.

Hamilton police have apprehended a suspect in a shooting that took place here late last night.

Police Chief Craig Bucheit said in a social media post at 2:57 p.m. today that Hamilton Police Department investigators worked through the night to locate the suspect.

Bucheit said the “invaluable assistance rendered by residents and witnesses demonstrates (the) power of cooperation” in keeping the community safe.

The suspect was not identified in the police chief’s post.

 

INITIAL REPORT:

Hamilton police and fire crews were dispatched to the 500 block of East Avenue Saturday night for a person shot.

Police were dispatched to 502 East Ave. at approximately 10:32 p.m.

The male victim was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital and then airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital for a gunshot wound.

The victim's identity is unknown at this time.

The incident is currently under investigation.
