Fire alarm sounds at Hamilton High during voting

A fog machine in the Hamilton High School drama department was the apparent cause of a fire alarm tonight just as voting was beginning to wind down.

Hamilton High School hosts several voting precincts, however, there was no one in line at the time of the alarm, according to Butler County Board of Elections officials. Police and fire units were called to the school at 7:02 p.m., according to dispatchers.

Poll workers were instructed to grab all election-related materials and the pouch containing paper ballots. Voting resumed about 7:15 p.m.

Elections officials said no one was adversely affected outside of the inconvience of two voters who pulled up to the polls during the evacuation.

According to the elections board, poll workers were already back inside the polling place when the polls closed at 7:30 p.m.
