The Barclaycard US call center expected to eventually create 1,500 jobs at Vora Technology Park has set a planned opening date of Feb. 22, spokesman Matthew Fields told the Journal-News on Friday.

At the end of next month, more than 40 new hires will start training at the new Barclaycard facility, Fields said. The Hamilton center will be one of the company’s four locations nationwide providing customer service for the company’s growing credit card servicing division.

“We’re excited to be welcoming more than 40 new colleagues to our customer care and fraud teams. They will start with several weeks of training and will gradually move into their designated roles soon thereafter,” Fields said. “We continue to hire for both customer care and fraud positions as we look to staff up our operations throughout the year.”

Job seekers can apply anytime online at barclaycardcareers.com.

Also, the next chance to apply in-person is Tuesday. Barclaycard will hold another job fair from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at OhioMeansJobs-Butler County, located at 4631 Dixie Hwy. in Fairfield. Job qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and customer service skills, according to OhioMeansJobs.

Barclaycard is a division of United Kingdom-based Barclays Bank. Employees of the center will provide customer service support for card members who participate in co-branded credit card programs, as well as payment products featuring the Barclaycard brand, according to the company.

Plans previously announced are to add up to 250 new employees in 2016 at Vora Technology Park, located at 101 Knightsbridge Drive in Hamilton, where more than $9 million is being invested in renovations. Once fully operational in coming years, the center will employ about 1,500 people, according to the financial services company.

Barclaycard was one of two call centers that announced last year plans to open in Hamilton. StarTek Inc. opened in July of last year and is also hiring.

Site Selection Group, a Texas-based consultant to companies for site selection and financial incentives, this month named Barclays' opening in Hamilton one of the 20 most impactful site selection projects of 2015 in the U.S. More than 4,400 announcements were reviewed. Job creation and the impact on the local wage and tax revenue base were some of the factors considered for the list, according to the firm.
