Abercrombie & Fitch set to close up to 40 stores

Abercrombie & Fitch will close up to 40 stores this year.

The company that includes Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister brands has 850 stores globally. Most of the 40 closures will be in the United States, the company said in a press releases.

There are Abercrombie & Fitch stores at the Mall at Fairfield Commons and Kenwood Towne Center, along with Hollister stores at the Mall at Fairfield Commons, Dayton Mall, Liberty Center and Kenwood Towne Centre, according to company websites.

The brands also plan to leverage new store prototypes to add 85 “new store experiences” in 2019.

Abercrombie & Fitch saw comparable sales increase 3 percent across brands, driven by a 6 percent increase at Hollister and 1 percent increase at Abercrombie.

There is no current list of store closures.
