From left, Kariann Lawhorn, Jack Greenlee and Brooke Fogel, all 11-years-old will turn 12 on 12/12/12 today.

From the time Jack Greenlee was born on Dec. 12, 2000, his family began anticipating his 12th birthday.

“We realized he would turn 12 on 12/12/12,” says Jack’s mom, Lori. “It doesn’t happen very often that all three dates line up and a person is turning that age!”

Twelve family members — from Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Kettering — will gather tonight in West Chester Twp. to celebrate Jack’s special birthday at JAG’s, a restaurant chosen because it matches Jack’s initials (Jack Anthony Greenlee). The Adena Elementary student is also a Jacksonville Jaguars fan.

“Twelve has always been my lucky number,” Jack says. “And my first and last names have 12 letters in them.”

Twins Adrienne and Aarin Derouen of Beavercreek also will be turning 12 today.

“We’re going out to dinner and their grandmother is having an open house in Columbus in celebration of their turning 12 on 12/12/12,” says the girls’ mother, Sarah. ” They’re excited; they can’t believe it!”

It will be another 1,000 years before we’ll see another date quite like today — with a consecutive date sequence — and chances are none of us will be around to see it. The birthday families aren’t the only ones taking advantage of the occasion.

According to the folks at David’s Bridal, thousands of couple are following suit despite the fact that the day falls on a Wednesday. Many believe this sort of date is lucky.

According to the sixth annual David’s Bridal survey, an estimated 43 percent of brides have considered planning their wedding on an iconic wedding date such as this one. Earlier this year, on 10/11/12, thousands of couple were married.

David’s Bridal estimates that more than 7,500 brides will be getting married today compared to 485 on 12/12/11—that’s a 1446 percent increase over the previous year!

If nothing else, they say, it’s a great way to ensure that spouses won’t be forgetting their anniversary date.
