HAMILTON — The inner child will escape for a Knight of magic.

At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 the Fitton Center hosts magician Stephen Knight as a part of their family series in the Benninghofen Theater. The series is geared toward people of all ages, from preschoolers to adults.

This is the center’s second year for their family series, but Knight’s first time to join.

Knowing “families enjoy a night of magic,” Jodi Fritsch, Director of Public Relations and Marketing at the center, thought Knight would be a good fit. “He is very high energy and engaging,” said Fritsch.

Knight’s love for magic began when he was in grade school.

“I got a magic kit in second or third grade,” said Knight, “and while some kids threw theirs away after a few weeks, I never gave mine up.”

Years of watching David Copperfield specials as a child, followed by a lot of practice, prepared him to make entertainment his full-time job for almost eight years now.

The approximately one-hour show incorporates more than magic. Knight uses illusions, comedy and drama to make this production unique. He interacts with the audience and gives two children the opportunity to perform a card trick.

The show reaches all ages, with some tricks being more sophisticated than others, including the finale illusion most commonly associated with Houdini.

“I want people to depart from the normal life and take a journey into the imagination,” said Knight.

A reception beforehand at 6:30 p.m. provides appetizers and drinks. After the show the audience is welcome to stay for pictures with Knight. The event is sponsored by Dan and Marilyn Antenen.
