Workshop for young writers
HAMILTON — The Hamilton Lane Library will offer a Young Writers Workshop from 2 to 3 p.m. June 9. The workshop is especially helpful for young writers ages 9-12 who are interested in submitting to our “What’s Your Fish Story?” writing contest.
A workshop for ages 13-18 is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. June 16 at the Hamilton Lane Library. The library will also host a summer writing contest for teens.

County announces recycling initiatives
HAMILTON — The Butler County Recycling and Solid Waste District is offering free programs for residents to recycle their old electronics, Freon appliances and household hazardous waste. Electronics can be dropped off to the Butler County Engineers Office at 1921 Fairgrove Ave. between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the second and third Saturdays of the month. For unwanted Freon appliances, call (888) 886-9268 to schedule a pick-up.
The district will resume its weekly drop-off program for household hazardous waste in June. Items can be brought to Environmental Enterprises at 10163 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, West Chester Twp. between 2 and 7 p.m. Thursdays.

Darrtown honors vets with annual ceremony
DARRTOWN — A memorial ceremony is planned for 2 p.m. today, May 30 at Darrtown Cemetery on Schollenbarger Road to honor all veterans and to recognize those buried there.
