Blues, Big Band, steel drums: There’s something for everyone at concert series in West Chester

The annual West Chester Concert Series at Keehner Park will bring families together outdoors on Saturdays this summer through Labor Day.

“The Amphitheatre is 21 years old, and the series has been going on almost that long. The concert series has continued to be such popular community event. We put together another great schedule of bands, which features a variety of musical genres,” said Barb Wilson, spokeswoman for West Chester Twp.

The series will feature a mix of new acts like Melodic Rhythms and Big Trouble Blues Band, along with several returning favorites. The concerts will begin on Saturday, June 2, with the Fillmore Philharmonic Brass Band, and wrap up on Labor Day, Sept. 3, with the West Chester Symphony Orchestra.

“We do two concert series in the summer, so we want them to be a little unique from one another. So, the concerts at Keehner Park represent brass bands, jazz bands, big bands, steel drum bands, classic rock and symphony. There’s a little bit of everything,” Wilson said.

Although there’s no alcohol served or food concessions available, guests may pack a picnic supper and spread a blanket, and bring games for their children to play.

Concerts will begin at 7 p.m. each week at the Keehner Park Amphitheatre stage. The summer-long concert series will showcase popular acts like Blue Stone Ivory, Southwestern Ohio Symphonic Band, P&G Big Band and more. The West Chester Symphony Orchestra will perform twice this summer, including at a community ice cream social at the park on June 30.
