U.S. presidential assassins — some successful and some not — interact and tell their tales in this comic musical revue by Stephen Sondheim.

“That’s the first thing I hear from people — that (a musical about assassinations) can’t be funny,” said Matt Neal, director of the musical.

“In fact, it’s very funny,” he said. “Albeit, it’s dark sometimes, but sometimes it’s kooky and zany and other-worldly so that we don’t get too drawn in to the darkness of the subject matter.”

After originally appearing off-Broadway in 1990, “Assassins: The Musical” was revived on Broadway in 2004, where it was nominated for seven Tony Awards, winning three (including Best Revival of a Musical).
