GE just landed an $8.8 million Department of Defense contract.

General Electric Co., in Cincinnati, has been awarded $8,747,720 for a firm-fixed-price delivery order for electronic controller modification kits for the U.S. Navy, the department said Wednesday.

The parts delivered will convert a hydro-mechanical main fuel control system into a digital fuel control configuration on DDG 51- and CG 47-class ships.

Work will be performed in Cincinnati and is expected to be complete by June 2020.

The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington D.C. is the contracting activity.
