Want to sell your product at Elder-Beerman stores? Now is your chance

The parent company of Elder-Beerman continues to expand its "Close to Home" shops, which feature products from local makers and artists.

The retailer’s first “Online Sourcing Fair” received more than 1,250 product submissions from artisans, makers, designers and entrepreneurs. The number received far exceeded expectations and nearly a third are now under final consideration.

Those selected will be introduced in Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers stores starting in late June, according to a company statement. Since fall 2016, Bon-Ton has opened shops in in 148 stores across 14 states.

The “Close to Home” initiative has provided more than 340 small businesses with the opportunity to sell products in major department stores. The retailer will again accept product applications during its next Online Sourcing Fair slated for July 18 to Aug. 31.

The Bon-Ton Stores, with corporate headquarters in York, Penn. and Milwaukee, Wis., operates 267 stores, which includes nine furniture galleries and four clearance centers.
