Salon Lofts expanding with new Butler County location

Salon Lofts plans to bring its eighth southwest Ohio location to the Liberty Commons shopping center to capitalize on the area’s continued expansion.

The business, which already has eight locations in southwest Ohio, offers customers a chance to book an appointment with professional hair stylists, massage therapists, skin care experts and nail technicians who lease space from Salon Lofts.

Kim Mayhew, Salon Lofts’ market manager, said West Chester and Fairfield township locations that opened in 2011 and 2012, respectively, have been “extremely successful,” leading to the decision to open a new location this June at 7312 Yankee Road, a few doors down from Kroger Marketplace.

“It’s a high demand area for us and Liberty Twp. seemed like a great, natural next location,” she said. “With all of the expansion that’s going on in the area, it’s a great time to be there.”

Salon Lofts locations typically have a set number of lofts, with one or two people leasing out an individual space. The Liberty Twp. location will have between 25 and 30 lofts, Mayhew said.

Mayhew said customers appreciate that each location is high-end and contemporary-looking and make good use of online appointment booking.

“If I remember at 2 in the morning I want to get my hair cut, typically at a salon, I’d have to wait until normal business hours to call and schedule an appointment,” she said. “This way, I can schedule my appointment with my stylist at 2 in the morning. I have the freedom and luxury to do that.”

Founded in 2002, Salon Lofts has locations in the Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Dayton areas, as well Indianapolis, Ind.; St. Louis, Mo.; Tampa Bay, Fla.; Sarasota, Fla. and Atlanta, Ga.

Salon Lofts is looking to open an additional location in southwest Ohio sometime this year, Mayhew said.

Ashley Boszo, who brought her more than six years of experience as a master stylist to Salon Lofts Tylersville Farm in West Chester Twp. four weeks ago, said working there is different than being a stylist in a mainstream salon, because “you are essentially a salon owner now, instead of working for someone.”

The 25-year-old Lebanon resident said what’s been “pretty awesome” about the experience is being able to provide a higher quality of care to her clients.

“It’s very personalized and centered on their needs,” she said. “There’s no other distractions. It’s just me and them in the room. That’s why I like it.”
