Marsh Supermarkets chain has new CEO

Marsh Supermarkets, Inc., a grocery chain with several area locations, has a new company leader.

Joseph Kelley became chairman, chief executive officer and president of Indianapolis-based Marsh Supermarkets effective Monday, May 2, said Connie Gardner, Marsh spokeswoman.

“It’s business as usual,” Gardner said.

Before joining Marsh, Kelley was executive vice president of Price Chopper Supermarkets of New York.

Marsh has two locations in Hamilton. A third Hamilton store at 1790 S. Erie Hwy. closed last year. There are other Marsh stores in Middletown, Fairfield, Cincinnati, Franklin and Eaton.

In February six of its grocery stores in Hamilton, Fairfield, Franklin and Cincinnati changed their names to MainStreet Market. The Middletown store is called Marsh Hometown Market.

Kelley replaces Frank Lazaran, who resigned from the post after more than four years, Gardner said.

Marsh operates 78 Marsh stores, three O’Malia’s Supermarkets and 16 MainStreet Markets in Indiana and Ohio.
