Macy’s offers ways for shoppers to donate to shooting victims, families

Shoppers across Ohio can round up their total while shopping at Macy’s to be donated to victims of the Oregon District shooting Sunday that left nine dead and more than 30 injured.

From Aug. 7 through Aug. 21, shoppers at all Ohio Macy's stores can ask to have their total rounded up to the nearest dollar to benefit the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund, according to a statement from the company.

The Dayton Foundation established the fund to help support those impacted by the tragedy after suspected shooter Connor Betts opened fire outside Ned Peppers bar just after 1 a.m. Sunday, killing nine people and injuring at least 37 others before police shot and killed him.

Macy’s also donated $20,000 to the fund.

“This is just the start,” the statement said. “Macy’s will continue to work with the Dayton community to identify meaningful ways to support our neighbors and friends impacted by this tragedy.”
