Latest TQL office opening slated for Memphis

Freight brokerage firm Total Quality Logistics announced Tuesday plans for another new sales office opening, this time in Memphis, Tenn.

Total Quality plans to operate 34 offices in 19 states by the end of August 2015.

The Clermont County-based company will invest $1 million to open a sales office in downtown Memphis to meet the needs of its expanding client-base, creating at least 100 new jobs over the next five years.

Also, Memphis represents TQL’s third expansion in Tennessee in just over a year. Offices have also opened in Nashville and Knoxville.

“We are certainly excited to open our third Tennessee location in Memphis,” said TQL President Kerry Byrne in a written statement.

Memphis joins previous announcements made so far this year for new sales offices in Knoxville, Tenn.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Dallas, Texas; and the first west coast location in Portland, Ore. Plans are also to open later this year in Richmond, Va.; and Las Vegas, Nev., said spokesman Mark Motz. Those moves into Nevada and Virginia will expand TQL operations to states No. 18 and 19, Motz said.

The Knoxville site doesn’t open until July and Memphis in August.

TQL, which has sales offices in Centerville and West Chester Twp., is the Tristate’s largest privately-held business. The company acts as a middle man in the transportation industry. Its staff negotiates truck loads, rates and destinations between the companies that need products hauled and the truck carriers that deliver goods.

TQL employs more than 3,000 people across the country, according to the company.

Last year the fast-growing logistics company surpassed $2 billion in sales.
