Construction of Oakwood senior living center set for spring

Construction of the assisted living center at the Sugar Camp-Pointe Oakwood residential complex in Oakwood will start this spring following the sale of that portion of the development to a Michigan firm.

Randall Residence LLC will build and own the $12 million, 80-unit assisted living center at Sugar Camp-Pointe Oakwood, said Bob Posner, executive vice president and chief operating officer of developer Oakwood Investment Group. Randall Residence bought the project from Oakwood Investment late last month for an undisclosed amount, Posner said.

Randall Residence, based in Lawton, Mich., operates similar centers in Michigan and Northern Ohio. It also has an assisted living center under construction in Tipp City that is scheduled to open in June.

The Oakwood facility was designed by architect Earl Reeder and was approved by the city of Oakwood last year. Once completed, it will have 80 units and employ up to 55 people, said Noel Salgado, chief financial officer-controller of Randall Residence.

No completion date has been set, Salgado said.

The assisted living center at Sugar Camp-Pointe Oakwood is among $83 million in completed or expected construction of senior citizen housing projects in the area. The projects are expected to generate nearly 200 new jobs.
