Butler Tech to offer commercial driving job fair, open house

Butler Tech is scheduled to hold a commercial driving job fair and open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at its Public Safety Education Complex at 5140 Princeton Glendale Road in Liberty Twp.

The event will give anyone interested in a career in commercial driving the opportunity to meet with recruiters about employment opportunities and also get information about training for those jobs.

Butler Tech’s Commercial Driving program offers training for Ohio Class A and Class B licenses. The comprehensive program includes classroom instruction, interactive driving simulators and behind-the-wheel experience. Students have access to Butler Tech’s current-model equipment and a five-acre asphalt driving range. New classes start every two weeks.

To qualify for a commercial driver’s license in Ohio, students must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age at the start of the program for a Class A license, 18 years old for a Class B license.
  • Pass a Department of Transportation physical exam and drug screen.
  • Obtain a CDL permit and pass required testing.
  • Have a valid Ohio driver's license and good driving record.

Carriers and companies scheduled to participate in the Job Fair include BST, Cincinnati State, Cohen, ComCar Industries, Crete, Dart, Falcon, Home Run, I-Supply, Kaiser Pickles, Louiso Trucking, Maverick, Mays Trucking, NTB, PI&I Motor Express, Presto Foods, U.S. Foodservice and Werner.

Event sponsor Presto Foods will be providing light refreshments during the job fair.
