Showers and thunderstorms will continue through the night.

Storms that rolled through this afternoon and evening caused the National Weather Service in Wilmington at times to issue severe thunderstorm warnings for some counties in the region.

The storms knocked out power to more than 7,300 customers at one point.

Heavy rain that may cause flooding will be the primary threat, especially this evening through the first part of the overnight. Gusty, possibly damaging wind also is possible.

A tree was reported down on power lines at 1:49 p.m. on McDowell Street southeast of Xenia, the Greene County 91 call center reported to the NWS.

In Fairfield, a trained spotter reported witnessing a sign blown off its pole at 4:10 p.m.

The overnight low will be around 67 degrees after the high temperature reached 81 degrees in Dayton and Cincinnati, and 78 in Columbus.

Showers linger Tuesday, with showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1 p.m. Otherwise it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 80 degrees.

The chance for rain decreases after dark. Skies will be partly cloudy Tuesday night with an overnight low around 60 degrees.

Showers are possible between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 and 8 p.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 80 degrees. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 59 degrees.

A break in the rain comes Thursday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 79 degrees.

The chance for rain returns Friday afternoon and continues into the night and for the first part of the weekend.
