Eta Aquarids meteor shower peaks this weekend

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower, the best in the Southern Hemisphere, will peak this weekend.

This shower usually produces about 10 meteors per hour during the peak, but can remain active before and after. Clouds will decrease Sunday and Monday morning, so even though it will be chilly, you might catch a stray meteor overnight/before dawn if you are out early.

The radiant point of this shower means that in the United States, the meteors would appear very close to the horizon in the east. You have better chances of spotting meteors by finding a dark spot away from city lights, and by giving your eyes a chance to adjust to the darkness.
