Ryan Day stresses importance of ‘plan to win’ with TCU on tap for Ohio State

(Urban Meyer is scheduled to be back on the sideline Sept. 22 against Tulane.)

Whenever Day becomes a full-time head coach, he won’t have to worry about whether or not he knows how to handle a press conference.

As the fourth-ranked Buckeyes prepare to play No. 15 TCU -- their first ranked opponent --  after crushing a pair of overmatched opponents to start the season, Day assessed the challenge in perfect coachspeak.

“When you play in big games you have to take care of football, you have to run the football, you have to play good defense, you have to follow the plan to win even more because every play is so much more important,” Day said Monday.

“In terms of preparing for it, we’ve got to be who we are. When you start to stray and focus on other things like it being a big game, that’s when you get distracted, and we’ve got to focus on us. If we play the way we know we can play that will give us the best chance to win.”
