HS Roundup 1/25: Rubin paces Oakwood in upset of Brookville

Darren Rubin posted a career high to help Oakwood pull off a huge upset of Brookville 65-55 in Friday night boys basketball.

Rubin poured in 36 points, including a 15-for-15 mark from the foul line, to lead host Oakwood.

Jacob Gudorf totaled 23 points with 12 rebounds for Brookville.

The win bumped Oakwood to 7-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play. Brookville, holding on to a slim lead in the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern division, fell to 12-2 and 6-2.

Boys Basketball

Belmont 65, Dunbar 55: Kendall Moore scored 25 points and Shawn Phillips and Latrell Estes added 13 apiece for Belmont.

Bethel 43, Miami East 42: Tompson Bean led Bethel with 15 points. Sam Zapadka had 14 for Miami East.

Butler 58, Beavercreek 55, OT: Tyler Montague had a steal and layup with 10 seconds to play in overtime to help Butler pull out the victory.

Cedarville 50, Greenon 48: Colby Cross finished with 15 points, including the game-winning jumper with three seconds to play, to lead Cedarville in a rally win.

Centerville 70, Northmont 49: Mo Njie finished with 16 points, Jason Sneed 13 and Centerville put up 32 points in the final quarter to pull away.

Chaminade Julienne 58, Badin 54: CJ took the lead with 31 seconds to play before holding on for the win.

Coldwater 58, Fort Recovery 50: Marcus Bruns put up 18 points and Noah Miller added 11 rebounds to lead Coldwater. Payton Jutte had 18 points for Fort Recovery.

Emmanuel Christian 77, Middletown Christian 49: Fred Shropshire poured in 30 points and Casey Swank tacked on 23 including five three-pointers for Emmanuel Christian.

Fairmont 76, Miamisburg 55: Ryan Hall led the way with 18 points and Jesse Reliford and Kaleb Hall added 14 apiece for Fairmont, which hit ten three-point shots in the first half to build an early lead. Brett Hensley paced Miamisburg with 15 points.

Franklin Monroe 71, Bradford 44: Ethan Conley poured in 36 points and Franklin Monroe coach Troy Myers tallied his 100th victory.

Jackson Center 39, Fort Loramie 36: Trent Platfoot sunk the game-winning shot for Jackson Center.

Lakota East 57, Princeton 48: Bash Wieland scored 26 points to lead four players in double-digit scoring for East. Kaden Fuhrmann, Will Johnston and Grant Spicer added 10 points apiece.

Lakota West 72, Colerain 67: Osean Anuforo spurred a Lakota West rally victory with 25 points. Brady Weber added 13 and Carter Combs 10.

Legacy Christian 70, Jefferson 44: Roman Newsome and Erik Uszysnki each bucketed 17 points and Legacy set a school record with its 14th consecutive victory.

Madison 79, Milton-Union 39: Grant Whisman had 22 points, Matt Gomia 11 and Madison moved to 9-0 in conference play.

Minster 61, New Bremen 48: Mike Ketner scored 22 points and Minster went on a 9-1 run in the second quarter to take control. Nolan Bornhorst led New Bremen with 14 points.

National Trail 51, Ansonia 27: Cameron Harrison netted 19 points and National Trail broke ahead with a 15-6 run in the second quarter.

Oak Hills 50, Middletown 24: Rob Thompson finished with 11 points in a losing effort. Oak Hills coach Mike Price tallied his 400th career victory.

Preble Shawnee 59, Carlisle 43: Sam Agee scored 18 points to pace Preble. Cash Ridinger totaled 17 points and Nolan Burney 10 for Carlisle.

Russia 67, Botkins 56: Jordan York recorded 21 points, Mason Dapore added 20 and Daniel Kearns 10 rebounds to lead the Russia effort.

St. Henry 58, New Knoxville 21: Caden Niekamp paced St. Henry with 13 points and Jay Knapke and Zach Niekamp tacked on 10 apiece.

Troy Christian 43, Dayton Christian 31: Isaac Gray tallied 14 points for Troy Christian, which went on a 16-4 run in the third quarter. Anton Webb led Dayton Christian at 15 points.

Twin Valley South 54, Newton 39: Willie Bowman put up 23 points for TVS. Ryan Mollette and Chet Jamison scored 11 points apiece in a losing effort for Newton.

Xenia 86, Troy 61: Samari Curtis scored 29 points, Jate Bradley 18 and Zack Gaither 11 to pace Xenia. Shaeden Olden put up 19 points and Chris Demeo 16 for Troy.

West Carrollton 59, Tippecanoe 56: Darius Berry and Kalen McKinney tallied 12 points apiece and pace West Carrollton. Ben Knostman had 21 points and Nolan Mader 13 for Tipp.

West Liberty-Salem 47, Triad 35: Jack Eggleston scored 18 points and Holden Nease had 10 to lead WLS.

Girls Basketball

Springfield 71, Toledo Waite 19: Mickayla Perdue recorded a triple-double with 33 points, 10 assists and 11 steals to lead Springfield at the MLK Classic. Trinity Morton-Nooks tacked on 25 points with 15 rebounds.
