HS Roundup 1/7: Rubin’s 38 leads Oakwood in win

Senior Darren Rubin’s career-high performance led the Oakwood boys basketball squad in an 89-66 win versus Stivers on Tuesday.

Rubin poured in 38 points, 30 of which came in the first half where Oakwood built a 49-25 lead.

Daniel Hu added 19 and Will Maxwell 13 for Oakwood, which improved to 7-4.

Stivers dropped to 6-3.

Boys Basketball

Alter 58, Fenwick 50: Brady Uhl posted 18 points, Conor Stolly 11 and Jack Smith 10 for Alter, which moved to 8-1 overall with the win. A.J. Braun paced Fenwick with 27 points and Dan Luers added 12.

Badin 67, Roger Bacon 58: Zach Switzer put up 18 points off the bench, Donovan Watkins and Josh Hegemann combined for 29 points and Badin went on an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Chaminade Julienne 62, Carroll 60, OT: Brandon Gibson scored 18 points, including a three-point basket late in overtime that gave CJ the lead for good. Jaden Dahm paced Carroll with 15 points.

Emmanuel Christian 58, Jefferson Township 41: Casey Swank and Fred Shropshire combined for 35 points to lead Emmanuel Christian.

Greeneview 71, Triad 57: Cole Allen chipped in 19 points and Gabe Caudill and Mason Witt tacked on 14 apiece to pace Greeneview. Ayden Spriggs led Triad with 17 points.

Greenon 69, West Liberty-Salem 60: Clayton Minteer totaled 16 points and Cade Rice tacked on 14 for Greenon. Holden Nease had 19 points for WLS.

Lebanon 51, Northmont 37: Bladen Brown finished with 15 points and Blake Lamb tacked on 12 points with 12 rebounds for Lebanon.

Legacy Christian 53, Middletown Christian 49: Charlie Luke and Brett Carson totaled 13 points apiece to lead Legacy Christian.

Madison 73, Monroe 64, 2OT: Grant Whisman and Tristan Sipple combined for 48 points to help Madison survive and improve to 10-1. Will DeBord led Monroe with 15 points and Collin Deaton added 14.

National Trail 54, Miami East 44: Zach Woodall led the way with 19 points and Cameron Harrison added 14 for National Trail, which improved to 10-1. Brayden Young and Brandon Bertsch had 12 points apiece for Miami East.

Newton 56, Franklin-Monroe 37: Mitchell Montgomery netted 21 points for Newton, which opened the game on a 26-6 run.

Tri-County North 50, Covington 49: Dylan Stinson poured in 32 points for Tri-County North. Zach Kuntz paced Covington with 16 points.

Troy Christian 49, Yellow Springs 29: Brady Clawson tallied 16 points to help Troy Christian improve to 6-0 in conference play.

Girls Basketball

Fort Loramie 89, Fairlawn 14: Dana Rose scored 16 points and Ava Sholtis and Corynn Heitkamp tacked on 14 apiece for unbeaten Fort Loramie.

Jonathan Alder 54, Mechanicsburg 43: Sydney Bourquin and Melisaa Walbom combined for 35 points for Jonathan Alder. Kasey Schipfer paced ‘Burg with 16 points in the loss.

New Knoxville 68, Waynesfield-Goshen 29: Morgan Leffel poured in 28 points and Megan Jurosic added 19 to lead New Knoxville.

Russia 56, Jackson Center 21: Jessica York totaled 13 points and Kate Sherman added 10 for Russia.
