HS Roundup 3/27: Northmont girls knock off Butler in Florida play

The Northmont softball team emerged victorious, besting Butler 11-8 at an off-site game played in Florida.

Hannah Seagraves won her season debut on the mound, also batting 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double.

Anna Mangen led Northmont in scoring with four runs, four RBIs and a triple. D.J. Shepherd tacked on a double, batting 2-for-4.

Lyndsey Achs tallied two runs and two stolen bases in the losing effort, while Katie Henry earned a triple.

Northmont moves to 3-0 on the season. Butler sits at an even 1-1.

Baseball

Ben Logan 15, Jackson Center 3: Curtis Gadson hit for four RBIs to lead Ben Logan to victory, going 3-for-3 at the plate, with one run of his own scored.

Northmont 6, Northview 3: Aided by Ryan Pullins’ performance on the mound and his two RBis and one hit, Northmont emerged victorious. Cole Stephens, Carson Wagoner and C.J. Van Schaik each tallied an run and an RBI in the win.

Softball

Hamilton 11, Talwanda 1: Autumn Griffie struck out eight batters in the Hamilton victory. Mya Halcomb knocked out a grand slam, batting 3-for-3 on the night with one triple.

Boys Volleyball

Alter 3, Roger Bacon 0: Josh Kabel’s 26 assists and five digs aided Alter in its sweep of Roger Bacon, winning the sets 25-12, 25-9 and 25-18. Andrew Rose added on seven aces, six kills and two blocks and Dan Nye seven kills and one ace.

Beavercreek 3, Fairmont 0: Beavercreek took all three sets 25-22, 25-18 and 25-11. Parker Mikesch led with 17 kills, while Naumann Hussain chipped in 23 assists. Ryan Hill rounded out the scoring with six digs. Nicholas Spangler netted 14 assists in the Fairmont loss.

Carroll 3, Purcell Marian 0: Carroll swept the match, winning all three sets 25-6.

Edgewood 3, Xenia 0: Jerry Beeler netted 17 assists in the sweep over Xenia. Edgewood took home all three sets, winning 25-20, 26-24 and 25-16. David Stoltz added nine kills and Jacob Insprucker tacked on five aces.
