Tippecanoe, Bellbrook and Franklin each advanced to the regional tournament in Friday’s girls basketball Division II district finals at Mason.
Tippecanoe defeated Goshen 51-36, marking a fourth consecutive district championship and fifth straight district appearance. Maddie Frederick led the way with 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Bellbrook blew past Roger Bacon 65-42 to take home a district title. Brooklyn Hall tallied 20 points and Bekah Vine and Cassidy Hofacker added 13 apiece.
In the final game Franklin buried a 3-point shot in the closing seconds to cap off a triple-overtime thriller versus Carroll.
Boys Basketball
Carroll 39, Spg. Shawnee 33: Eli Ramsey carried Carroll with 17 points in a D-II sectional final at Springfield. Carroll will play the winner of Saturday’s Aiken/Hughes matchup with a district title on the line.
Trotwood 96, Northridge 49: Trotwood rolled in a D-II sectional final at Springfield, moving on to face the winner of Sunday’s Alter/Chaminade Julienne contest in a district final on Thursday at UD Arena.
Coldwater 60, Lima Central Catholic 54: Coldwater moves on to the district tournament to face Fort Recovery, which beat Van Buren 54-46.
Emmanuel Christian 61, Tri-Village 48: Adonis Davis recorded 16 points, Jason Channels had 15 and Fred Shropshire added 14 to help Emmanuel win its first ever sectional title in a D-IV sectional final at Troy. Emmanuel Christian will face Russia in a district final on Friday at UD Arena.
Russia 37, Jackson Center 21: Daniel Kearns scored 10 points to help Russia pull away in the second half in this D-IV sectional final at Piqua.
St. Henry 59, Waynesfield-Goshen 27: Tyler Schlarman scored 17 points and Zach Niekamp added 14 for St. Henry in a D-IV sectional at Coldwater.
Minster 78, New Knoxville 53: Jared Schulze scored 19 points and Isaac Schmiesing tacked on 15 for Minster in the other D-IV sectional at Coldwater.
