HS Roundup 4/17: Fairfield baseball edges out East in extra innings

Aaron Newkirk hit for the game winning double and RBI in the bottom of the 10th inning as Fairfield slipped past Lakota East, 9-8.

Cam Tenhundfeld tacked on three hits in five attempts at the plate.

Jack Willms led East in the losing effort with four hits. Mitchell Vincent chipped in three.

Baseball

Centerville 11, Alter 0: Morgan Colopy and Tyler Rahe each knocked one out of the park in the shutout win over Alter. Nick Hoffman threw for the shutout.

Coldwater 2, Delphos St. Johns 1: A walk-off single by Jacob Hartings earned the win for Coldwater in the bottom of the seventh inning. Brad Giere and Sam Miller combined on the mound for the win.

Oakwood 1, Waynesville 0: Cole Miller earned his first win of the season on the mound in the shutout victory against Waynesville.

Ross 2, Northwest 1: Ethan Hall hit for the game winning single in the bottom of the ninth inning, while Montana Allgaeier earned the win from the mound.

Springboro 7, Miamisburg 2: Tyler Kean’s 10 strikeouts, two hits and one run aided the ‘Boro victory over Miamisburg. Payton Standifer tacked on two runs on two hits and Bryce Haberthier rounded out the scoring with two hits, two doubles, two RBIs and one run. Dylan Wudke tallied both runs for ‘Burg in the loss.

National Trail 15, Covington 3: Peton Lane led the way offensively with three runs, two hits, one single and one double. Hunter Michael tacked on five RBIs, three hits, two singles and a double in the winning effort.

St. Henry 11, New Knoxville 0: Jay Knapke had an outstanding offensive night, knocking out a home run and running for a double on two hits. Sam Lefeld had two hits that resulted in a double and a triple.

Softball

Fairfield 14, Sycamore 1: Lindsey Mitchell and Taylor Delk earned three runs in each in the 13 run rout of Sycamore. Mitchell also earned the win on the mound, striking out seven batters in five innings. Jessica Fehr recorded the lone run for Sycamore.

Lebanon 9, Northmont 0: Ashley West paved the way for Lebanon, batting in three RBIs on three hits in the winning effort. Madison Hartman added on two hits and an RBI, while Kat Frank pitched the shutout.

Monroe 12, Northridge 0: Alyssa Wagner pitched the shutout, earning Monroe’s seventh win of the season. Shelby York led the offensive effort, tailing three hits, three RBIs and a double. Faith Hensley tacked on two hits, two RBIs and a double.

Boys Tennis

Lehman Catholic 3, Chaminade Julienne 2: Griffin West and Ryan Goettemoeller picked up wins at first and second singles, while Sam Ritze and Danny Lins took the first doubles title as Lehman Catholic slipped past CJ.

Miami Valley 5, Dayton Christian 0: The doubles duos of Makul Sharma and Reece Quigley and Amin Ahmed and Nathan Howell both picked up wins in the sweep of Dayton Christian.

Preble Shawnee 5, Dixie 0: Pierce Elliot, Luck Feck and Allison Zornes all handedly won their singles matchups in Preble Shawnee’s win over Dixie. Hayden Brown and Austin Carter and Brendan Whisman and Jackson Carter earned wins at first and second doubles for PS.

Tecumseh 3, Urbana 2: Tecumseh moved to 8-0 after edging out Urbana. Mitchell Foland, Drew Sarihan and Jacob Lewis swept the singles competition to give Tecumseh the win.

Boys Volleyball

Beavercreek 3, Xenia 0: Beaver took all three sets, winning 25-4, 25-8 and 25-9. Landon Shoemaker had seven serving aces in the wins, while Jarrod Brown tacked on six serving aces and two assists. Ryan Hill rounded out the efforts with 12 digs.
