HS Roundup 4/12: Elam’s three runs push Tecumseh over Urbana

Hunter Elam’s three runs helped push Tecumseh over Urbana, 8-2.

Davey Berner pitched a complete game for the Arrows, striking out 11 batters.

Will Sowder contributed offensively with three RBIs and a double, while Blais Hale tacked on a triple.

Payton Shannon rounded out the offense with two hits.

Kaleb Bowdle and Brayden Fain each had two hits in the Urbana loss.

Baseball

Coldwater 2, Parkway 1: Cole Frilling pitched a complete game, striking out four batters as Coldwater edged out Parkway. The win moves Coldwater to 7-1.

Kenton Ridge 17, Indian Lake 2: Zach Schneider led KR offensively, batting 2-for-4 with a three run homerun. Calvin Dilbert tacked on two RBIs and a triple, as Luke Haerr earned the win. Julien Barnes hit a two run single for Indian Lake.

Northeastern 11, West Liberty-Salem 1: Mac Davis and Gavin Yearout both hit 3-for-3 in the win over WLS. Alex Lockwood chipped in three RBIs.

Northmont 6, Waynesville 1: Garrett McGough and Ryan Tanto each ran for two doubles off of two hits in the Northmont victory. Cole Stephens, Joe Pryor and Adam Bendinelli all had doubles for the Bolts.

Northwestern 6, Spg. Shawnee 2: Gage Vorhees played a complete game on the mound with 10 strikeouts. Gavin Thomas aided the offense with a double and a homerun, while Evan Crew tacked on two hits.

Softball

Badin 5, McAuley 3: Nicole Rawlings earned her fifth win of the season on the mound, netting two RBIs in the win. Gracie McHugh batted .500 with an RBI in the winning effort.

Chaminade Julienne 11, Thurgood Marshall 1: Carly Fugett’s 10 strikeouts lifted CJ over Thurgood in the blow out victory.

Coldwater 8, Parkway 5: Grace Bruns broke the 5-5 tie in the bottom of the fifth ending, starting the Coldwater push for the win. Maura Hoying and Kelsey Khalig led with two hits each, as Kahlig also knocked out a home run, scoring three runs.

Eaton 3, Bellbrook 0: Bailey Shepherd had three RBIs and two hits in the shutout victory. Annika Gels struck out seven batters, allowing only four hits in the win.

Fort Loramie 17, Jackson Center 0: Morgan Holescher led offensively, knocking out two homeruns and four RBIs. Aleah Frilling and Clara Gephart each had a three hit night while combining for the shutout on the mound.

Greeneview 16, Cedarville 1: Alexa Simpson led the offensive charge for Greeneview, both on and off the mound, tallying two singles and an RBI, while pitching a complete game and striking out eight batters. Cheyanne Montgomery added on three RBIs, a double and a single.

Kenton Ridge 7, Indian Lake 2: Lexee Trainer paved the way with three runs, three RBIs, two hits and a homerun in KR’s victory over Indian Lake. Carly Turner tacked on three hits, a double and a triple. Libby Cotterman led Indian Lake with a double.

Monroe 12, Valley View 1: Sam Schwab knocked two out of the park, tallying two homeruns and three RBIs on the night. Alyssa Wagner earned the win, striking out 14 batters over six innings.

National Trail 13, Ansonia 3: Savanna Abner went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, a homerun and a double to lead NT in its 10 run victory. Bobbi Jean Grimes aided the effort with a double and two RBIs.

Tippecanoe 4, Northmont 2: Hailee Varvel and Brooke Silcox each hit for doubles in the Tipp victory. Anna Mangen earned three hits, while Cassy Lewis and Kassie Kelemen had two each in the losing effort.

West Liberty-Salem 6, Northeastern 4: Kelsey Day, Kenedie Cox, Maddie Estes and Diedre McGill all had runs scored as WLS edged out Northeastern. Hayley Suchland went 3-for-3 with a run scored and a single in the losing effort.

Boys Tennis

Bellbrook 4, Valley View 1: Bellbrook bested the VV blue squad as Brayden Kopp and Sam Singer each picked up singles wins for Bellbrook. Ian Barnett earned the lone win for VV.

Dixie 4, Northridge 1: Mason Swigart and Alex Perminov both picked up wins at first and second singles, while the doubles duos of Sam Owens and Steven Brock and Austin Guehring and Lukas Simoni rounded out the Dixie win.

Lakota West 5, Middletown 0: Garrett Lindsey, Brendan Reedy and Josh Barnholtz all picked up singles victories in West’s sweep of Middletown.

Lehman Catholic 3, Lima Central Catholic, 2: Sam Ritze and Danny Lins and Michael Wesner and Sean Toner swept the doubles sets of the match to aid LC in its win. Ryan Goettemoeller earned the lone singles win at second singles.

Preble Shawnee 5, Carlisle 0: The doubles duos of Hayden Brown and Austin Carter and Brenden Whisman and Jackson Carter pulled of wins as Preble Shawnee swept Carlisle.

Tecumseh 4, Butler 1: Tecumseh moved to 7-0 on the season with the win over Butler. Scott Sinkhorn and Parker Randenburg picked up another win at first doubles, as Zach Williamson and John Siroin tallied the lone win for Butler at second doubles.

Valley View 4, Bellbrook 1: The Valley View White squad emerged victorious over Bellbrook’s B team as Skylar Hamm, Lane Powell and Dawson Hamm all picked up singles wins.

Boys Volleyball

Edgewood 3, Miamisburg 2: Jacob Insprucker led Edgewood’s offense with 21 assists. Trent Halveland and Griffin Smith tacked on nine kills each, while Eli Beeler had four aces.
