HS Roundup 2/26: Dunbar, Fenwick move on in boys D-II doubleheader

Fenwick defeated Clinton-Massie 67-40 and Dunbar eliminated Thurgood Marshall 66-54 in Division II boys sectional basketball action on Monday at Trent Arena.

Dunbar got off to a quick start, jumping ahead with a 19-10 run in the first quarter. Martel Smith and Kadar Gardner scored 15 points apiece and Jo Scates tacked on 11 to lead the way.

Anthony McComb tallied 19 points for Thurgood and Javion Holley added 16.

In Fenwick’s victory John Engelmeier finished with 19 points and C.J Napier added on 17.

Girls Basketball

Beavercreek 48, Centerville 38: A 15-point swing over the third and fourth quarters helped Beavecreek capture a D-I sectional title.

Wayne 41, Springboro 30: Jordan Diehl scored her 1,000th career point for ‘Boro but Wayne pulled away in the second half to win this D-I sectional final.

Lakota West 60, Little Miami 21: Abby Prohaska led West with 19 points, which included her 1,000th career point in this D-I sectional final.

Legacy Christian 46, Fayetteville Perry 19: Legacy slammed the door shut in this D-IV sectional final, finishing the game on a 14-2 run.
