High School results for Feb. 9: Miami Valley girls take MBC title

The Miami Valley girls basketball team captured a fourth consecutive Metro Buckeye Conference title with a 58-36 win over Troy Christian on Thursday.

Liz Bush tallied 22 points with five assists, Tia Karras added 16 points and Alyssa Clements tacked on eight points with 13 rebounds for Miami Valley (16-4).

Haley Peters paced Troy Christian (14-5) with 11 points.

Girls Basketball

Bellbrook 56, Eaton 21: Cassidy Hofacker scored 24 points in helping Bellbrook cap off an unbeaten season in the Southwestern Buckeye League.

Milton-Union 44, Preble Shawnee 38: Kristen Dickison carried Milton-Union with 16 points. Brenna Woodard had 11 points for Preble.

Franklin 57, Valley View 43: Layne Ferrell put up 24 points for Franklin. Hunter Stidham paced Valley View with 15 points.

Carlisle 60, Northridge 37: Christa Harris tallied 21 points and Savanah Parrish added 10 for Carlisle. Jamese Johnson and Ashley Allison had 10 points apiece for Northridge.

Franklin Monroe 51, Newton 46: Corina Conley, Belle Cable and Audrey Cable scored 11 points apiece for Franklin Monroe. Newton’s Tatum McBride tallied 20 points, surpassing the 1,000 career point milestone.

Miami East 52, National Trail 24: Haley Howard had 16 points to lead East. Evan Byrd paced Trail with nine points. The teams will meet again on Feb. 16 in sectional play.

West Liberty-Salem 83, Mechanicsburg 49: Lily Yoder and Mikalia McIntosh tallied 22 points apiece to lead WLS. Morgan Hamby led ‘Burg with 18 points.

Russia 45, Fort Loramie 30: Maria Herron recorded 11 points for Russia, which pulled away in the second half. Taylor Ratermann led Loramie with 10 points.

Jackson Center 64, Houston 14: Cassie Meyer put up 20 points to lead Jackson Center in the rout.

Minster 55, New Knoxville 26: Ali Borgerding had 14 points and Courtney Prenger 11 to lead Minster. Kenzie Schroer carried New Knoxville with 10 points.

Boys Bowling

Carroll 2728, Fenwick 2039: Jacob Schoening racked up a 461 series and Carroll took home a Greater Catholic League Co-Ed title. Peter Schuh paced Fenwick with a 339 series.

Vandalia 2628, Sidney 2589: Damion Phillis bowled a career-high 491 series but Vandalia handed Sidney its first league loss in three years.

Girls Bowling

Vandalia 2458, Sidney 2000: Vandalia rolled a season-high in the win. Jenna Beatty paced Sidney with a 429 series.

Wrestling

Miamisburg completed an undefeated home slate with a 72-6 win over Hamilton and a 45-33 win over Winton Woods. Seniors Seth Campbell and Elijah Perkins each picked up a pair of wins for ‘Burg on senior night.
