Report: Reds’ India airlifted to hospital after injury in Field of Dreams game

Second baseman driving back to Cincinnati with team trainers instead of flying with the team

Reds second base Jonathan India was airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, after suffering a leg injury in the Field of Dreams game Thursday night vs. the Cubs in Dyersville, Iowa, according to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic.

India is driving back to Cincinnati today from Iowa with team trainers instead of flying to Cincinnati with the team because of swelling in his left leg, Rosecrans reported.

India left Thursday night’s game vs. the Cubs before the top of the fourth inning. He was hit by a pitch in the lower left leg in the first inning.

Reds manager David Bell said after the game -- a 4-2 Cubs’ win -- India was day to day. The three-game series resumes Saturday at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
