The Cincinnati Reds announced Friday they have avoided arbitration and agreed to contracts with five players.
Right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer signed a one-year contract worth $17.5 million. Also signing were: right-handed reliever Matt Bowman ($865,000); right-handed starter Anthony DeSclafani ($5.975 million); right-handed reliever Michael Lorenzen ($3.725 million); and catcher Curt Casali ($1.4625 million).
Bauer was 11-13 with a 4.48 ERA last season with the Indians (24 starts) and Reds (10 starts). His salary in 2019 was $13 million.
The Reds also announced the following players received invitations to Major League spring training camp: minor league pitchers R.J. Alaniz, David Carpenter, Vladimir Gutierrez, Nick Lodolo and Alex Powers; catchers Chris Okey and Francisco Peña; infielders Christian Colón, Jose Garcia, Jonathan India and Alfredo Rodriguez; and outfielders Stuart Fairchild and Boog Powell. Pitchers Brooks Raley and Tyler Thornburg and infielder Matt Davidson previously received invitations.
