Report: Bengals’ Burrow undergoing surgery to remove appendix

The Bengals’ veterans were scheduled to report Tuesday but Burrow had showed up early for some extra practice. Now he will be out for the start of training camp Wednesday and expected to miss some time. An appendectomy usually takes two to three weeks for recovery.

Last season, L.A. Rams backup quarterback John Wolford had his appendix removed on Aug. 6. He was back at their facility, according to reports, on Aug. 9 and back to throwing drills on Aug. 16 before getting fully back Aug. 19.

Burrow had just gone through his first normal offseason, feeling healthy during Organized Team Activities despite bumps and bruises throughout the 2021 season when he led the Bengals to the Super Bowl. He was limited in his first full offseason last year while recovering from ACL and MCL surgery, which ended his rookie season early in 2020.
