The Cincinnati Reds swept the Chicago Cubs — though Tuesday’s rain showers deserve half the credit.

One day after a 1-0 victory over Chicago, the final game of the two-game series was postponed. The teams will play a split doubleheader May 19 with games at 1:10 p.m. and 7:10 p.m.

This was the second postponement in the first five games. Opening Day was postponed from Thursday until Friday last week. This was the 15th postponement in 16 seasons at Great American Ball Park.

The postponement cost Cody Reed the chance to make his first start of the season.

“It affects Cody Reed really the most,” Reds manager Bryan Price said. “We’re not going to push everyone back. We’ve already got (Wednesday) off, which pushes everybody back an extra day, so Cody, we’ll get him ready and slot him tentatively on (Monday) and continue to work to keep him ready and then we’ll go with the originally-planned rotation with Homer (Bailey) throwing the first game against the Pirates.”

The Reds start a four-game series in Pittsburgh on Thursday.
