Devin Mesoraco has battled the injury bug for the past two-plus seasons, making it difficult to recall that he was an All-Star in 2014, but the Reds catcher isn’t hanging his head.

He told the Fanrag Sports Network that, "Life isn't always a storybook, always a fairy tale. You wish it were but it doesn't always work that way. I have some injuries and that's part of baseball, part of sports. I've had some things go against me but that's the way life works."

Mesoraco has been in the disabled list multiple times each of the past three seasons, and while he can’t be certain that he’ll return to the form of three seasons ago, he’s not going to stop trying.

“I do know this much, I’ll work as hard as I possibly can to get back to being that player,” he told Fanrag. “If it doesn’t happen, it will not be for a lack of effort.”
