Dwayne Haskins put the Buckeyes on top 21-17 with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Parris Campbell with 4:39 left in the second quarter.
An Indiana fumble gave Ohio State the ball back 28 seconds later, and the Buckeyes needed six more plays to score again, this time on a 7-yard pass from Haskins to Terry McLaurin that made it 28-17 with 2:16 on the clock.
Indiana notched a field goal before the half, but Ohio State got the ball to start the third quarter and wasted little time adding to the lead in front of 104,093 fans at Ohio Stadium.
Haskins found Campbell wide open in the right flat and took full advantage, getting the ball to the speedster and watching him outrun the Hoosier defense for a 71-yard score that gave Ohio State a 35-20 lead.
Indiana hung around, cutting the lead to nine late in the third quarter, but Haskins tossed two more touchdown passes to put the game out of reach.
Haskins tied a school record with six touchdown passes. Kenny Guiton and J.T. Barrett (twice) also threw for six scores in a game for the Buckeyes earlier this decade.
Haskins finished with a career-high 455 yards passing, three shy of Art Schlichter’s Ohio State single-game record set against Florida State in 1981.
Campbell finished with nine catches for 142 yards and the two scores. McLaurin, an Indiana native, caught two touchdown passes while Binjimin Victor snagged one, too.
Ohio State finished with 609 total yards.
Cincinnati native Peyton Ramsey had a big day for Indiana. The Elder High School grad completed 26 of 49 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns.
Pete Werner, Tuf Borland and Dre’Mont Jones had sacks for an Ohio State defense that struggled in the first half but gave up only 89 yards in the second half.
