The Ohio State Buckeyes find themselves in a decent position in the first College Football Rankings, which were released Tuesday night on ESPN.

Ohio State (7-1) ranks sixth. It’s the second-highest ranked one-loss team. Texas A&M (7-1) ranks fourth. Its only loss is to Alabama, which took the top spot in the first ranking.

Clemson (8-0) and Michigan (8-0) rank second and third. Washington (8-0) ranks fourth in the Associated Press poll but fifth in the playoff ranking.

Louisville ranks seventh.

Wisconsin, which Ohio State beat 30-23 in overtime Oct. 22, ranks eighth. Auburn is ninth. Ohio State’s opponent at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nebraska, ranks 10th.

Florida ranks 11th. Penn State, the only team to beat Ohio State, ranks 12th, and is followed by LSU, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

North Carolina State, Florida State, Western Michigan, Boise State and Washington State are the final five teams in the top 25.
